4 Reasons Your Website Needs an Update – Part 2: Outdated Everything

Reason #2

When you first make your website it can be really hard to decide what you want on your website and what you want it to do for you. Your website is just like your business in the fact that fine tuning it comes with time. As every day goes by you learn more and more about your business, your clients or customers, your staff and yourself. You adapt your business and staff to meet the needs of your clients or customers but your website is often left behind.

The problem with that is this: your website is another member of your staff. While your regular staff works roughly 8 hours a day, your website works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Would you leave your 80 year old grandmother all by herself after normal business hours to help answer questions and pull in new customers of clients for your tech company? I’m guessing thats a resounding NO so why is it ok for your website to be old and out of the loop. Not that your grandmother is, I’m sure she’s a lovely lady….

Having old information on your website can be very counter productive. Do you have a new phone number? Do you have a new employee? Do you offer new services or no longer offer others? What about features or functionality on your website that is old and not being used. Old and outdated plugins can affect the performance of your site which affects your customer of clients experience.

Keeping your website up to date is very important. If you don’t have the time to handle it yourself, maybe you should find someone who can help take that off your plate for you.
